Construction & Function
Using traditional handwheels, the measured value is shown on an analog scale. The vernier scale, however, only shows the values of a single revolution.

Digital position indicators allow the set position to be read at a glance. The display value per spindle pitch and is achieved via gears. The tables on the following pages show many of the available pitch / display values for each type of indicator.

Installation is simple; therefore, digital position indicators can be easily retrofit.

For automated applications electronic position indicators offer additional advantages. These indicators convert mechanical rotation into a code which is then electronically interpreted. Code / measuring principle are either incremental or capacitive. Electronic indicators are programmable, battery-backed-up and can hence be used as absolute displays. Depending on the execution, the indicators allow data transmission via interface parameter to a PC or control. Installation is simple for either original equipment or retrofit.
